creating links between zoos and conservation in the wild

Zoos Go Wild

This website includes our reports from South America, the project's main findings, the resources we can offer, as well as explaining the conservation issues and how you can get involved.

Why is ZGW needed?
Many zoos have long recognised that they have a moral responsibility to support in-situ (in the wild) conservation projects and when new zoo legislation came into force in 2002, this will became a legal responsibility. We want to assist all zoos to meet this responsibility.

Zoos Go Wild's Principal Aims:

  1. Assist zoos in developing closer links with conservation projects in the wild.

  2. Bring 'conservation to the heart of the community' by helping educators to teach children about the need and importance of conservation and to understand the issues that surround such topics, through links with  zoos and conservation projects.
